Afterlife - Holding Absence (2021) REVIEW
Afterlife - Holding Absence (2021) REVIEW
Converting into colour after once being in black and white, Holding Absence are now seen in vibrantly beautiful single ‘Afterlife’. Introducing the forthcoming full-length ‘The Greatest Mistake Of My Life’, due to be released on April 16th 2021 with Sharptone Records. Giving people a taste of this new era with delicate sounding ‘Beyond Belief’, but ‘Afterlife’ is more of a ground shaking anthem.
Emotive vocals kick this enormous track off, courtesy of Lucas Woodland hurling the track into another dimension. The combination of pounding drums (Ashley St Green) with Lucas’ powerful voice, harmonising (with himself?) is undeniably incredible. Holding Absence somehow always coats their tracks with a charming, dreamy touch and it boils down to the dynamic of the band - how they effortlessly gel together with (Scott & James) on guitars and bass provides a euphoric and electric feel.
‘You’ll live forever in the back of my mind’ is a poignant lyric in this track full of them, everything created by Holding Absence feels like it’s been touched with their own hands. The track gives off a static energy, as will the rest of their highly anticipated full-length no doubt. Their debut album brought an emotional experience and a consistent atmosphere but their sophomore album has already brought two completely different tracks. This would be a perfect time to discover Holding Absence, they deserve to be headlining arenas with colour brought to people’s lives through their music and kindhearted personalities shining through each track.
